About

The Victorian Major Events Company (VMEC) is the world’s leading events acquisition group.

VMEC is a not for profit organisation with an entrepreneurial vision for creating and securing major sporting, entertainment and cultural event opportunities for Melbourne and Victoria. VMEC was established by the Victorian Government in 1991 and since this time has built and developed an unrivalled calendar of major sporting cultural, entertainment and sporting events for Victoria.

Funded by the State Government of Victoria, VMEC works with the Premier of Victoria and the Minister for Major Events. VMEC is led by an honorary Board, chaired by Rhodes Scholar and international business leader Sir Rod Eddington, and Chief Executive Brendan McClements.

VMEC connects event owners with Victoria’s experienced event network, an inner circle of relationships that gives VMEC its unique strength, speed and ability to achieve and provide event owners with a proven foundation for success.

“Few cities approach the business of attracting and then delivering top quality domestic and international events with the professionalism and enthusiasm which the team at the Victorian Major Events Company demonstrates so consistently.”
